Best Tablets For Note Taking (2021) With Stylus Support

Share It On:

Now we are after the best tablets for note taking because we know that tablets are the devices that everyone needs for efficiently getting their tasks done, especially at times when the use of a laptop is not convenient. Tablets come with lightweight designs and large screen sizes which make them convenient to be carried around. Most tablets have a 2-in-1 format that allows them to function as a laptop when an external keyboard is attached. These options have made tablets a favorable device for note-taking. The market is full of options for tablets that can be used for taking notes and jotting down quick ideas. With the wide range of options available, it often gets difficult to narrow down to one final choice. It requires you to conduct a thorough research about the features and specifications of each device and make sure that the brand is authentic and reliable. You also have to make sure that the tablet you choose matches your requirements.

What should you look for before deciding to own any of the best tablets for note taking?

When choosing a tablet, specifically for note-taking, it is important that you take into consideration a few specifications and evaluate them for each product.
We will be discussing all of these features in detail, along with their significance in a note-taking tablet.

Screen Size And Resolution

Screen size and Screen Resolution are two of the most important features to look for in a tablet device.

We have often seen people prioritizing other features and totally ignoring the screen size only to regret it in the end. Most of them eventually end up selling their devices for peanuts. Generally, the screen size of tablets ranges from 7 to 12 inches. Choosing the right size for yourself depends on your use and requirement.

Many people want a small portable device just to jot down a few ideas during the day, a 7-inch tablet would be good enough for them. However, those people who wish to use the tablet for reading books and making detailed notes would want to have a bigger screen size.

As for the resolution, 1920 X 1080 is considered to be the standard resolution size, but you can increase it if you want. Higher screen resolution provides excellent graphics and enhances the quality of the entire viewing experience. For this to be made possible, the tablet you choose must support an HD, FHD, or WQHID screen as the standard LCD and IPS display will not do a great job in bringing you excellent graphics quality.

Processor

If you are getting a tablet only for note-taking, a heavy-duty processor is not required. The applications for note-taking are light and can work perfectly with an average decent processor. Still, the processor is a core part of the tablet’s system and should be considered and while making a purchase.

The standard processor that you should be looking for is the quad-core family that gives a stable processing speed to power up the entire system.

Dual-core could lag a little when multiple applications are in use at the same time. The dual-core processor has got two counts of threads, while the quad-core comes with four threads with equal processing speed. And then comes the octa-core which has no match; it has up to eight threads and provides an unmatched processing speed and performance.

RAM

RAM is the backbone of a computer system as it handles the load of the entire system to have them operate seamlessly. So, do not go for anything less than 2 GB of RAM because if you do, your system will be painfully slow and you won’t enjoy using your device.

Internal Storage

Even though a large storage size is not necessary for a tablet that is to be used primarily for note-taking, but it is advised to get one that has at least 16GB of storage capacity., This way, you will be able to store as many notes, files, and e-Books in it without having to worry about the storage size.

Battery

The battery is a crucial part of anything that is electrically-operated. The tablet for note taking is required during classes and business meetings. It should have enough battery to last at least 6-8 hours so you can work without the hassle of charging your gadget in between meetings.

Take note that most tablets can get their batteries replaced with new ones of the same power but can not be increased in capacity. For example, a tablet with a battery of 2900 mAh can only be replaced with a new battery of 2900 mAh and not one with a higher power. So, you must make sure that the battery life is sufficient and lasts for a good 7-8 hours.

Some Mostly Searched Questions on Web about Note Taking

Note-taking may sound easy, but it can prove to be a tricky task for many people. For the ease of everyone, we have compiled the top five most asked queries about note-taking.

1. Are there any note-taking tablets that are well-integrated with OneNote?

This is one of the most frequently asked questions about note taking tablets. For those who don’t know, OneNote is an application that collects your content and lets you share those notes with other people via the internet. So, people who frequently use their tablets for note-taking want a tablet that is friendly with OneNote, as it can help them edit a document later on any other device, instead of being restricted to one device only.
Many people suggest Surface Pro, but many users consider it a mediocre gadget as they don’t like the handwriting on its notes.
The next best alternative is the iPad. The handwriting is pretty phenomenal – thanks to the apple pencil – but then again, many people complain about the Mac OS version of OneNote and consider it unsatisfactory.
Another suggestion is Lenovo Yoga C940, 15’’, which has good handwriting and is also powerful to use. Yet it has a large screen, so not everyone would prefer this option.

2. What is the best note-taking tablet for people that want their privacy respected?

Any tablet that does not connect to the internet is a perfect device to use without getting your privacy violated. Some are better than others as you might need to connect your device with the internet at some point.
Many people suggest an iPad as a suitable choice for privacy protection. It maintains your privacy and security better than many other tablets in the markets. If you don’t want to go for an iPad, you can also install Lineageos on your android tablet as it offers a greater level of privacy.

3. Which is the best note-taking tablet that gives you the feeling as if you are writing on paper?

While choosing a note-taking tablet, many people demand something that makes them feel just like they are writing on paper. The aim is to get something that does not provide distractions caused by social media apps yet offers a digital experience.
For this purpose, the most highly recommended tablet is The Remarkable 2. It feels exactly like a paper notebook and promises absolutely zero distractions as it runs on a proprietary Linux version.
Another excellent option is Supernote A5 and A6. Then we have an onyx book and boyue likebook. Both have an android system and provide access to the play store, so they are not a hundred percent distraction-free.

4. Can I buy a small-sized note-taking tablet that ranges from mid to high-end?

This is something that can’t be easily found. Small-sized note-taking tablets are rare, and the ones which exist are of the low-end range. If people want to buy a small-sized note-taking tablet, they should consider purchasing a smartphone instead.
However, to answer this query, the best option the market offers (amongst the very limited choices) is Samsung Tab A 8.0. it comes in two models – one with Spen and the other without it; both are totally different from each other. Huawei and Honor also produce small-sized note-taking tablets, but they come without any Google services.

5. What is the best tablet that comes with a stylus and has maximum storage?

The most liked tablet in this category is iPad Pro 11.5, which can work with an Apple pencil. You can take notes, create notebooks, and draw diagrams with this versatile technology while enjoying high storage capacity. Another cheaper alternative is the iPad air 3rd generation.
We hope that this has helped you get answers to some of the burning queries you had about digital note-taking.

I was looking for a tablet for my brother. Especially, I was looking for tablets with the Stylus support. This is a great guide. I really love reading it. I bought it from amazon and ordered it for my brother who lives in USA. ….

This is an amazing review post. I was looking for an affordable tablet for my daughter. She loves sketching so I wanted to find something that came with a stylus. I think I will be getting Apple iPad Air.
Thank you for helping me out!

Great article. I have never heard of some of these brands. I have always thought there were only four options for tablets the iPad, Galaxy tab, Surface and Fire tablet. It is good to have an awareness of the different options you have. By the way for number five you wrote can be carried around in a small back, I think you mean backpack.

Thank you for sharing thorough information. Most people just look at screen resolution and do not care about other specs.

Also, you have beautifully narrowed down the options, saving me a good few hours of research.
